Twig Collection

The name of the collection refers to the vegetal shape of the legs. These elements replicate the roots and stem of a tree which has its tree crown transformed into a seat.

Asymmetry is a key feature of these objects, being generated by the various heights where the legs take a loop to change direction and then come back again. This asymmetry provides an interesting aesthetics, and in the case of the bar stool serve as supports for the feet. These supports also give the user the choice of how low or how high to keep his feet.

Twig collection is varied and versatile due to the wide variety of finishes which enable the creation of interesting combinations.

Aqueduct Vase | Bolia

This vase makes an analogy through its name and shape to the ancient system that secured running water in cities and enabled them to flourish.

Beside its inspiration source, this vase is characterized by its functionality and its simple yet sculptural aesthetic.

Because of its aesthetic qualities the object can “live” on its own as a sculpture but it is enhanced when receives the natural beauty of flowers.

Aqueduct is made from a special kind of clay that creates a spotted pattern after firing, making every vase unique.

Light Tale | Askia

Inspired by a range of shapes and structures but mostly by a type of windmill used for pumping water, Light Tale is a floor lamp in which the sense of balance and good proportion work together to serve functionality.

The geometric shape of the shade tames and gives a sense of touch to the light which is otherwise an indefinite element. It acts mostly the same way the windmill harnesses wind to transform it into energy, only this time energy is transformed into light.

The tail at the back of the shade gives comfort and ease in directing the light source to the desired location, as the tail of the windmill follows the wind so does the lamp follow the user.

The shade provides a cone of light suitable for reading or writing but can also be used just for creating a warm ambient in the room. The contrast between shaded and the illuminated area is well defined due to the opening and form of the shade.

Materials are chosen to be straight forward and to mix the feeling of the cold and sturdiness of the metal with the warmth of wood. Together they balance the lamp making it both sturdy and delicate at the same time.

Officers Desk Accessories

These accessories, through their minimalist aesthetic, are easy to integrate in any workspace environment.

The collection encases an A4 paper holder, a pen + card holder, two sizes of file holders and a wall file holder. The objects are made from steel sheet, material chosen for both its sturdiness and lightweight.

The shapes and details of the products are following a rational and functional purpose, therefore all of them have a 45 degree bent “handle” that make it easier to grab, pull and organize on a shelf or another surface.

Colours have an equal important role with the shape, and are chosen in relation to one another, enabling the creation of colorful patterns when mixing them together.

The belief for which we stand, as to these accessories, was one of creating products that would stand out in their simplicity and dedication to functionality and adaptability to an ever changing work environment.

Around | Woud

Around Wall Hanger - Woud - 201 Design Studio

We designed the Around wall hanger with the intention of creating a simple and practical product that leaves its decorative element visible even when in use.

The construction of the object and its volumes are drawn with consideration for creating a play of light and shadow on its surfaces, thus creating contrasts and a dynamic object.

The wooden concave surfaces bring a sculptural detail to the design, while adding warmth and balance to the sturdy metal hook.

With a simple and versatile design, the two models offer two ways of use: the steel wire for coat and bag straps and the wooden head for placing other garments.

Materials are chosen to contrast with each other: the warm surface of the wooden body, with the beautiful grain accompanying the sturdy powder coated steel wire.

The Around wall hangers are available in two sizes and three finishes that can easily be combined and create a harmonious composition on the wall.

Hour Collection | Bolia

Hour family is an ode to time and a remainder that every moment can be treasured.

With this theme in mind, we drew inspiration from the object which resembles time the best way in our consciousness, the hourglass.

The first pieces of the series we developed have been the vases. We thought that flowers, with their fragility, show us in a beautiful way how time passes and the changes it brings with it.

These vases and all the other objects that followed are looking to achieve a sculptural aesthetic with simple volumes that get modeled by light and soft shadows.

Hour family has at its core a search for a simplified aesthetic which is enriched through composition and material while also speaking clearly of its source of inspiration.

The objects in the collection are thought of complementing each other while serving as center pieces with a strong statement. The series is comprised of: vases in several dimensions, a flower pot, bowls, a candle and tea light holder.

Nova | Woud

Several sources of inspiration and a journey of searching, retracing and reinterpreting valuable stylistic expressions are what led us to imagine Nova table lamp. Ranging from Art-Deco, Streamline Moderne, and even an exercise of imagining habituation in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis movie, we sought of creating a lamp that could embody all these rich expressions and synthesize them in a beautiful and contemporary product.

After several searches, the final drawing of the shape starts with a dynamic, rounded and airy shade that both floats and flows, almost seamless, into a solid and sculptural trunk that widens towards the bottom. This composition is balancing and combining glass with natural and robust materials in order to obtain a characterful object.

Maybe one of the most intriguing aspects of this lighting object would be the fact that the lamp elongates on one of its directions. This particularity does not only make for a more interesting and dynamic shape while changing angle of view, but also for practical reason, thus the lamp taking less space on a desk while not compromising the amount of light needed, and also making it suitable for placing on bookshelves, cabinets, windowsills, night stands or small tables.

The brass or chrome plated neck element, that visually divides the glass shade from the base, is also the connecting piece between these two main elements. The small round screws that are placed on the sides of this rim, are turning a technical solution into a delicate small detail.
